Thermo Scientific TruNarc 1.8 (June 2018) is now available for download.

There are now two ways to update your Thermo Scientific™ TruNarc™ instrument and Admin software:

1. With internet access: To update your TruNarc instrument and Admin software, you'll need an internet connection for approximately 45 minutes. The update will run in the background, and then you'll be prompted to accept the software update.

You can use the instrument control software to collect high-quality mass spectrometry data on the Thermo Scientific mass spectrometers. Control of the instruments is through two application packages: Tune and Method Editor. For questions about the software, to request features, or to report defects, please email planet.orbitrap@thermofisher.com. Paired with Thermo Scientific VisionTracker software, they provide a secure method for managing your sample data. The compact, user-friendly reader provides exceptional flexibility with data export formats, tube type readability and tube layout options. The program is often located in the C: Program Files Thermo NanoDrop 2000 folder (same installation drive as Windows). Thermo Scientific Ascent Software is divided into two desktops. The Procedure Desktop controls the instruments and allows basically limitless assay setup according to the users needs. In the uncommonly flexible Results Desktop, measurement data is reduced, results calculated and reports created using the powerful built in calculations in Ascent.

2. New upgrade button for those without access to the internet for automatic updates: If security settings prevent the automatic download, you can update your software manually. Please follow these steps to update your TruNarc Admin and analyzer.

TruNarc Online Update Instructions

To update your TruNarc instrument and Admin software to the latest software via the automatic update process, please follow these instructions:

1. Update TruNarc Admin

  1. Establish internet connection on your computer
  2. Open Admin then wait ~45 minutes
    • Analyzer does not need to be connected
    • Download happens behind the scenes
    • It's a 50MB+ file being downloaded
  3. Close Admin, then Open Admin
  4. Pop-up asks 'Would you like to install update?'
  5. Select Yes, then step through the install process.
  6. Close Admin, then Open Admin and click on 'About..' link to confirm the software is version 1.8

2. Update TruNarc Analyzer

  1. Turn Analyzer ON, then connect via USB to computer/Admin
  2. Pop-up on Admin indicates update is ready for download
    • Wait ~20 seconds for popup to appear
    • Select Yes, then progress bars will appear on Analyzer and Admin
    • When complete, disconnect Analyzer, turn OFF, then ON
    • Confirm Analyzer is running software version 1.8

TruNarc Admin users with access to the internet will be notified when new software is available and will be prompted to update. For users without access, or if security settings prevent the automatic download, please follow these steps to update your TruNarc Admin and analyzer.

Software Downloads

Note: If you do not already have TruNarc Admin installed on your computer, visit the TruNarc Customer Support Portal and click the link to Download TruNarc Admin Software. Enter the download code you received with your instrument or contact Customer Support for a download code. Install Admin per the Update TruNarc Admin instructions below, then continue with the following steps.

1. From within TruNarc Admin, click on Register/Edit Account Info to access the TruNarc Customer Support Portal, then select the Online Support tab:

2. Click on the links provided to download the following files, note that one is an EXE file and the other is a ZIP file:

  • TruNarc Admin 1.8 Software Update (Windows Installer, EXE) — if needed
  • TruNarc Instrument 1.8 Software Update (Kernel, ZIP)

3. Once saved, unzip the files and proceed to Update TruNarc Admin and Update TruNarc Analyzer below.

Update TruNarc Admin

1. Double click TruNarcAdmin-#.#-windows-installer.exe to launch

2. Select Run

3. Select language for your TruNarc Admin installation, then select OK

4. Follow to prompts to continue software and driver installation:

5. To confirm that your Admin was updated, go to About TruNarc Admin and verify the version number:

6. Once TruNarc Admin is updated, proceed to Update TruNarc Analyzer.

Update TruNarc Analyzer

1. Once your TruNarc Admin is updated, power on and connect the analyzer you wish to upgrade. Under the serial number, select the Upgrade Analyzer button.

2. At the following prompt, navigate to the unzipped TruNarc analyzer software update folder. It will follow this format: TruNarcKernel#####App#####

3. Select Start Update. The instrument will progress through the update procedure.

4. Upon successful completion, you’ll see this message:

5. Please restart the analyzer, and confirm the software version on the main software screen.

This is a fully executable version of RheoWin 4.

Please note: In order to be able to install RheoWin 4 on your computer you need a RheoWin 4 License Key !

Download the following *.ZIP file and copy them to a single (temporary) directory on your hard drive.

Then unzip the *.ZIP file using any suitable unzip program.

Please note: For Windows XP (only) also download and install the Window XP Imaging.dll patch.

RheoWin 4.63.00xx and Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10

RheoWin 4.63.00xx is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, all in both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

When using RheoWin 4.63.00xx under a Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 N version, the latest version of the Windows Media Feature Pack (for that Windows version) must be installed.

The following update/patch is needed for all RheoWin 4.xx.xxxx versions prior to version 4.63.0002 running on Windows 10 version 1607 (the so-called anniversary update from august 2016) in which Microsoft made some unexpected modifications.

Updates/Downloads for Foculus camera (RheoScope module)

New FGControl software and drivers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 64-bit and 32-bit.

For Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 both in the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions the use of the new FGControl software and drivers is obligatory.

  • Download 32-bit software and drivers (File: FGControl_Install_V2331_x86,zip, 11.5 Mb).

Older FOControl software and drivers for Windows XP 32-bit only.

  • * RheoWin 4 currently does not support the first series of RheoStress 1 instruments, for these instrument only RheoWin 3.x upto version 3.5x can be used.
    The first series of RheoStress 1 instrument can be recognized by the silver coloured drive motor shaft.
    The second series of RheoStress 1 instrument have a dark coloured drive motor shaft.
  • ** A firmware update may be needed for these devices to be compatible with RheoWin, see here.
  • RheoWin 4 does not support older instruments like the RT10, VT500, VT501 and the RV20+RC20/RV30 with CV20, CV100, M5 or M10. For these instruments please use RheoWin 2.97.
  • RheoWin 4 does not support the RS100 1 Ncm, the RS100 5 Ncm und the RS50.
    For these instruments please use RheoWin 3.61.
  • The new FGControl driver for the (RheoScope) Foculus camera is compatible with
    the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
  • The older FOControl driver for the Foculus camera is compatible with Windows XP 32-bit only.
  • The driver for the previously used Sony XCD-X710 camera is only compatible
    with RheoWin 4.50.00xx under Windows XP 32-bit.

Supported operating systems

  • RheoWin 4.63.00xx has been tested to run under the following Windows operating systems:
    - Windows 10 (both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version).
    - Windows 8.1 (both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version).
    - Windows 8 (both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version).
    - Windows 7 (both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version).
    - Windows XP 32-bit with or without any Service Pack.
    Please note: The Windows XP imaging.dll patch must be applied, see above under Updates)
  • RheoWin 4.63.00xx is currently NOT supported for use under the following operating systems:
    - Windows Vista with or without any Service Pack.
  • RheoWin 4.63.00xx can not be installed and consequently will NOT run and/or is not supported for use
    under the following Microsoft Windows operating systems (or any other operating system)
    - Windows ME
    - Windows 98 SE
    - Windows 98 with Y2K update and Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2
    - Windows 95
    - Windows 3.x
    - Windows NT3.x
    - Windows 2000 with Service Pack 1 (or higher)

  • We recommend the use of a PC according to the specifications given by Microsoft for the operating system used.

Rheowin 4 license key

In order to be able to install this version of RheoWin on your computer you will need a valid RheoWin 4 license key. A RheoWin 3 or a RheoWin 2 key will not enable you to install RheoWin 4.0.

A separate license key is needed for installing the tools for FDA 21 CFR part 11 compliance. A separate license key is also needed to install the TTS (Time Temperature Superposition), Spectra and MWD (Molecular Weight Distribution) tools as well as for the installation of some other optional software features.

The keys for RheoWin 4 consist of a company name, serial number and the key code. When you receive the key per e-mail this information will be stored in a *.key or *.txt file which can be opened and viewed by using any text-editor (Notepad, Write, Word, etc.).

The key information must either be entered manually (as in previous versions) or loaded from the supplied *.txt file (this is new for version 4.40) during the installation process.

A Key-Diskette for RheoWin 2.x or a RheoWin 3.x key will NOT enable you to install RheoWin 3, however the upgrade from RheoWin 2 or RheoWin 3 to RheoWin 4 is free of charge (shipping and handling costs may apply). Mysz zgodna z hid driver download for windows.

In order to request a RheoWin 4 license key download the RheoWin Key order form fill it out as completely as possibly, save it and send it to support.mc.de[at]thermofisher.com (replace [at] by @). You will then receive your new key per e-mail.

Installation of RheoWin 4

RheoWin 4 can be installed parallel to an existing RheoWin 2.xx and/or RheoWin 3.xx installation if needed. Please note that RheoWin 4 can read RheoWin 2.xx and 3.xx data, job and page files (backward compatibility), but that older RheoWin version can not read files saved by newer versions!! RheoWin 2.xx, 3.xx and 4.xx should ALWAYS be installed in different directories.

RheoWin 4.63.00xx can be installed, as an Upgrade installation, over an existing RheoWin 4.20.00xx, RheoWin 4.30.00xx, RheoWin 4.4x.00xx and RheoWin 4.50.00xx version, without deinstalling the older version first. In this case the settings from the previous installation are automatically used for the new version.

Here's how to install RheoWin:

  1. Please read the document new.doc BEFORE installing RheoWin 4!
  2. Please note that (Windows) Administrator rights are needed to install RheoWin!
  3. Upgrade installation:
    In case the settings of the previous installation should be used used for the new
    installation the previous version must not be deinstalled before the new version is
    installed.
    Please note: The 'upgrade installation' can only be used for an existing
    RheoWin 4.20.00xx, RheoWin 4.30.00xx or RheoWin 4.4x.00xx installation!
    Please note: For older RheoWin versions (version 4.10.00xx and older) the 'Upgrade
    installation    ' method can not be used, that means that the 'New installation' method
    (see 3b below) must be used, in this case the settings of the previous installation
    will not be available in the new installation.
    New installation:
    Deinstall (remove) any previous RheoWin 4 version first (if applicable):
    Click the Windows Start button, then select Settings, then select Control Panel,
    in the Control Panel select Add or Remove Programs, in the list of programs select
    HAAKE RheoWin and then click on the Change/Remove button and follow the instructions.
    Please note: In this case the settings from a previous installation will be lost and can
    not be automatically used for the subsequent new installation!
  4. Starting the installation program from a directory on your harddisk in which you unzipped the *.ZIP file :
    To install RheoWin from harddisk go to the (temporary) directory in which
    you unzipped the *.ZIP file after downloading. Please make sure that you
    have the following file in that directory: Setup.exe
    To start the installation please run the Setup.exe program.
    Starting the installation program from the RheoWin CD :
    This CD is 'self-starting', just click on 'Install HAAKE RheoWin 4' to start the installation.
    In case the installation screen does not come up automatically you can start it by
    double-clicking on the file 'index.htm' in the Windows explorer, this will show the
    installation screen in your web-browser.
    You can also start the installation by run the setup.exe program from the RheoWin
    directory on the CD

The installation program will guide you through the installation. Please make sure that you have a RheoWin 4 License Key (see above) readily available since the installation program will ask for this.
