  • Each team is partnered with another team, which makes up an 'alliance.' In any match, two alliances, one designated as the 'red' and the other as the 'blue' alliance, compete against each other.
  • The robot must be within the dimensions of an 18-inch cube.
  • The robot cannot contain any software or material that is now allowed by VEX Robotics.
  • The playing field is a 12x12 ft area consisting of foam tiles bordered by polycarbonate dividers.
  • Each match starts out with a 15-second autonomous period, where the robot moves solely based off of pre-programmed instructions.
  • The 'driver control' period starts after the autonomous period. The designated driver(s) of the team manually control their robots for 1 minute 45 seconds.
  • Up to 3 competitors per robot are allowed to be in their 'alliance station' or 'driver pits,' an area surrounding the field.
  • The main goal is to score more points than the opposing alliance.
  • The alliances are not allowed to go into the other alliance's protected zone.
  • Removing any game objects on the field before the game begins will result in a disqualification, as will intentionally damaging any game objects.
  • VEX Robotics Users can have both ROBOTC 4.x and 3.x installed at the same time. Users with a ROBOTC 4.x license can activate ROBOTC 3.x using the same license. Annual License (365 Days).
